Any Hour Is Happy Hour at Weldon Mills Distillery in Durham NC

From a Cognac and Tequila lover to a newfound whiskey enthusiast, my visits at Weldon Mills Distillery in Durham are all about smooth sips, soulful vibes, and unforgettable moments with friends.

I’ve been meaning to share this with you for a while now because it’s one of my favorite spots in Durham—Weldon Mills Distillery. My friend India and I love going here for drinks after work. Even when it’s not technically their happy hour, for us, any hour is happy hour after a long day 😂. We frequent this place so often that it feels like a second home. But today was different—I brought my camera along to capture some of the vibe and share why we love this place so much.

The first thing that gets me every time is the chill atmosphere. Walking in today, they had “Didn’t Cha Know” by Erykah Badu playing, which set the perfect tone. The playlist is always on point—if you’re into neo-soul and R&B, you’re going to love it.

Now, let’s talk about the drinks because that’s why we’re here, right? I’m a huge fan of their whiskey selection, especially the Peach Elderflower and Caramel Apple whiskeys. I keep saying I’m going to purchase a bottle to take home, but by the time we decide to leave and the drinks settle in, I completely forget… blame it on the good times 😂. Today, I decided to go for something different and ordered their Cold Brew Martini. It’s smooth, not too sweet, and perfect if you need a little pick-me-up after a long day.

India and I also ordered two Peach Elderflower whiskeys on the rocks—it’s our go-to choice. The flavor is just right, not too overpowering, and it goes down so smoothly. If you’re a whiskey lover like us, this one is a must-try.

And we can’t forget the food. We had the Lobster Mac and Cheese today, and let me tell you—it’s creamy, cheesy, and loaded with tender lobster. We’ve tried their wings before too, and they’re equally amazing. If you need a bite to go along with your drink, you can’t go wrong here.

Weldon Mills Distillery is an easy walk from some of my favorite spots in downtown Durham, so it’s perfect for a whole evening out. Whether you’re planning to catch a show at DPAC, want to explore the American Tobacco Campus, or just enjoy the downtown vibes, this is a great spot to start (or end) your night.

If you haven’t been yet, I highly recommend making your way to Weldon Mills Distillery. The chill vibes, great drinks, and incredible playlist make it a place I can’t stay away from. And if you’re looking for a fun spot for a mini photoshoot, this place is perfect for sophisticated and sexy portraits, branding photos, or even engagement shots. Trust me, the warm, industrial ambiance and stylish bar setup make a fantastic backdrop.
