When Candace’s inquiry hit my inbox, she was on the verge of something major… her first book launch and a brand new author website for Books by Candace. From her very first message, I know this Raleigh branding photography session wasn’t just about photos… it was about documenting a new era.
She actually found me on TikTok (which still blows my mind every time someone says that 😅) and told me she needed new headshots and branding photos that felt like her: welcoming, polished, and full of life.
That right there? That’s my sweet spot… helping people create visuals that look like how they feel on th inside when they’re finally stepping into their purpose.

Her Story
Candance isn’t just an author, she’s a mental health therapist with a heart for helping people live lighter, freer lives. Her debut children’s book, Yurie and the Copycat Chameleon, helps kids understand and name their emotions through colorful storytelling and connection. It’s bright, intentional, and healing.
And when I read her pre-session questionnaire, one line instantly stuck with me:
“I want to remember in this chapter of my life that I pushed myself out of my comfort zone. That I bet on myself. That I can do hard things.”
That right there became the theme of our shoot. Every fram had a little bit of “I did it” energy behind it.
The Vision
We kicked things off with a clean and neutral setup. Candace showed up in an all-white outfit that looked timeless but still had personality. She brought along fresh flowers and vases to add pops of color (and trust me, they made the shots).
Then cam look two… and that’s when things turned all the way up.
Out came the confetti, the balloons, the bold blue suit, and those golden tones that screamed launch day. The whole set came alive. The energy shifted from “let’s take some brand photos” “to “oh yeah, this is a celebration.”
You could literally feel the joy in the room and those are the moments I live for.

Why I Love Shoots Like This
Sessions like this hit different for me. It’s about helping people see themselves fully.
When someone’s stepping into something new — a brand, a book, a business — I get to create the visuals that match their momentum. Storytelling in a timeless and tailored way.
Candace’s shoot reminded me why I love the work that I do. It’s about collaboration — one dreamer with a story, and me with a camera, capturing that in-between moment when everything starts aligning.
To My Fellow Creatives & Entrepreneurs
If you’re launching something new, this is your sign to stop hiding behind “when it’s ready.” You are ready. Document this version of you. Celebrate this season.
Let’s create photos that look like the energy you’re stepping into.
