It's funny how life places you exactly where you need to be, when you need to be there. They had been working together for quite some time. Casually seeing each other in passing and uttering a simple, "Hi!", and continuing on with their day. He, however, admired her. Anyone who knows her knows she radiates a vibrant spirit that captures and shines brightly through the room. He was drawn to her. He noticed how beautiful she was, her kindness, her sense of humor and her unrelenting wit. He knew that it was a chance he had to take and decided to make the first move.

It was a warm summer day in 2013. He approached her as confident as he knows how, and asked her if they could get to know each other. She, however, was reluctant about giving him her number — but ultimately she agreed. If you ask her, he was too perfect. Too good to be true. Something about him told her that it would be worth-while, despite the fact that they worked together. It was. He was perfect for her.

Phone conversations turned extended phone conversations transitioned into their first date. He was the perfect gentleman on that rainy Thursday evening. He greeted her at the door with an umbrella so she wouldn't get wet. He smiled and said, "Your chariot awaits, my queen." She melted. 

The date went perfectly and she left feeling like she was in love. She later found he agreed to Sushi, despite his distaste for sushi, because he knew that's what she wanted. His consideration for her made her realize that he was the right one for her. Her honesty and heart made him fall for her. Derrick had indeed found his Queen in Candice.
